Controlled Spontaneity

I just thought I’d let everyone know about the Sizzling Summer Jazz Concert in the Atrium at the Kemper Museum tomorrow night (8/21/09).  The event is free and starts at 5:30, with the Stuart Ashley Quartet’s performance begins at 5:45 and should end at 7:00. I’ll copy and paste from the Kemper’s website.

Come in from the summer heat and sizzle in comfort listening to the smooth sounds of jazz performed by the Stuart Ashley Quartet. Ashley recently spoke about how he relates the “controlled spontaneity” of jazz with the studio practices of abstract artist Dan Christensen in a Kemper Museum ARTcast.  A cash bar will serve a variety of beverages, including wine, beer, and soda.

I hope that, since Ashley refers to Mingus in the ARTcast, we’ll be treated to some tomorrow night. If anyone wants to carpool, let me know.
